The Ferrari 458 Challenge was created expressly for use on the track, and destined to give life to an exciting single-make championship. The engine of the 458 Challenge is the 4.5 liter V8 with direct injection, 570 HP at 9000 rpm, also fitted on the 458 Italia, with torque at low speeds increased by intervening on the ratios and calibration of the F1 double clutch gearbox. It has the E-Diff electronic differential and to lighten it, extensive use has been made of materials such as carbon fiber and Lexan, on the thicknesses of the bodywork but also inside the passenger compartment. To improve the car's performance, Ferrari technicians have studied the most sophisticated traction control system in the world: the F1-Trac, a device that continuously processes the state of grip on the ground, with two calibrations depending on the asphalt conditions (dry and wet), with control derived from Formula 1 racing. The driver can manage ABS, E-Diff and F1-Trac via a lever, with which he can choose to use the wet or dry configurations, and in in the latter case it will be possible to deactivate the traction control.
